About
Welcome to Noglu, a delightful café nestled in the heart of the Upper East Side at 1260 Madison Ave, New York, NY. This charming eatery has garnered attention not just for its inviting ambiance but also for its commitment to gluten-free baking, making it a haven for those with dietary restrictions. With an impressive selection of baked goods, sweet and savory, Noglu sets the bar high for gluten-free dining.
The first feature that strikes you about Noglu is its dazzling array of treats. Imagine walking into a bakery where each pastry is a work of art—so visually appealing that you find it hard to pick just one. The aromas wafting through the café awaken your senses and make you feel at home. Customers rave about the espresso, which cloaks every sip in rich flavor, while the cappuccino has garnered praise for its perfect creamy foam that tantalizes the taste buds.
Nicholas Persaud encapsulates the essence of Noglu with his review, highlighting the incredibly friendly staff who are always eager to guide you through the menu. It's not just about the drinks; the pastries are a true revelation. Cathryn Donohue described them as "uncompromisingly delicious," a sentiment echoed by many who have experienced their quiche, apple tart, and banana cake. The buttery pastry and the high-quality ingredients bring a touch of French elegance to your palate, transcending the gluten-free label.
While the café has received some critique regarding the staff's friendliness and certain menu items, such as the veggie bowl, it's clear that the focus at Noglu is on the star of the show: the food. With glowing accolades for the avocado toast and other delicacies, diners leave satisfied, knowing they’ve indulged in a truly memorable meal.
A standout moment can be found in the feedback from Alyxz B, who remarked how the bakery feels authentic enough that one wouldn't notice the absence of gluten. This speaks volumes about the quality of the offerings at Noglu, as gluten-free options often don't meet the same standards as their traditional counterparts.
This isn’t just a café; it’s a community hub where delicious food meets dietary inclusivity. With its spotless facilities and inviting atmosphere, Noglu has cemented itself as a must-visit destination for anyone in search of delightful, gluten-free comfort food.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Noglu is worth a stop. The food not only satisfies cravings but also brings joy and reassurance to those who thought gluten-free meant sacrificing quality and taste. So why wait? Dive into a world of rich flavors and comforting textures at Noglu, where every bite is a testament to the art of gluten-free baking.
“ This cafe is a gem! The staff is incredibly friendly, pleasant, and always willing to provide helpful information about their menu and offerings. The espresso is amazing—rich and full of flavor—while the cappuccino is truly excellent, perfectly balanced with creamy foam. Even their regular coffee stands out, offering a solid, satisfying experience. All the treats on display look absolutely mouthwatering, making it hard to choose just one. Plus, the washrooms are spotless, adding to the overall comfort and appeal of the place. I would definitely recommend this cafe to anyone looking for great coffee, a welcoming atmosphere, and clean facilities. It’s a must-visit! ”
“ Noglu is a charming little corner cafe on the upper east side. I was slightly horrified by the prices, but these are possibly the first truly uncompromisingly delicious baked goods I’ve had since learning I had celiac disease. Quiche, apple tart, banana cake, all excellent (albeit perhaps slightly on the too-sweet side). The pastry is thin but firm, and very buttery. The cake had a wonderfully crisp yet elastic outside and chunks of banana in its very moist centre. Cons: the staff weren’t particularly friendly and had no clue about the veggie bowl. I ordered it anyway and it turned out to be a plate (go figure) of very ordinary undressed veggies (lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, cucumber, and a small amount of quinoa). Way overpriced at 24. Almost docked it a star but the baked goods were truly exceptional. ”
“ This bakery gluten free is amazing, everything is so delicius, definitely I will back. ”
“ I came here with my friend who has celiac, and had she not told me, I NEVER would have guessed this wasnt just a delicious French bakery. It's always a good sign when there are French people eating at a French bakery. Quick and easy service. The food smelled and tasted delicious. The eclair wasnt too sweet which I loved. We had their hot chocolate just a few doors down as well. ”
“ An amazing gluten free restaurant with tasty food. I thought the avocado toast was the best part. It was flavorful and a nice portion size. The pastries were also delicious. The staff was friendly and kind, and the service was good too. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant. ”
“ I thoroughly enjoyed my ham and cheese sandwich and salad, and it was so nice to not have to worry about what was and was not gluten free, as the entire space is dedicated to gluten free space. It was a little pricey, especially for the baked goods as I spent about 40 for a sandwich and the chocolate croissant. ”
“ If I lived nearby I’d be here almost every day. The vibe is good, coffee is on point, and the gluten free pastries are like crack. ”
“ For a celiac, this is a definition of heaven! Highly recommended. Muffins are spectacular. ”
